When trimming the stump to the ground make sure to apply the right amount of pressure with the chainsaw. Apply too little pressure, and you’ll never get through the tree and end up ruining the blade.
But applying too much pressure can result in binding the chainsaw blade or kick-back, possibly causing injury. Keep firm pressure, and move slowly. Slabs are cut perpendicular to the trunk of large trees, for tables, craft projects and specialty items. They contain no man-made seams, relying solely on the diameter of the tree for size.
This is exactly why people end up cutting down the branches that hang over the house.
Slabs vary in thickness from about 3 to 6 inches; they are cut when the tree is still wet. Proper curing and drying prevents the slab from cracking.
